Life Orientation (called Life Skills in primary school) covers personal well-being, citizenship education, recreation and physical activity, career guidance, and study skills. In the FET phase, it also includes physical education, democracy, human rights, and environmental responsibility.
Life Orientation is a compulsory subject but is not included in the APS (Admission Point Score) calculation for university entrance. However, it still contributes to the National Senior Certificate requirements and must be passed.
